FAQs

How much time am I expected to commit?

There are volunteering opportunities available for whatever time commitment you're able to make. Some volunteers donate a few hours each week or month, while others donate a large part of their leisure time.

To make volunteering as convenient as possible, we will try to assign you to a program that's close to your home or  work.

How old do I have to be to volunteer with the Children's Aid Society?

We have volunteers as young as 16 years old.  Our 40 Hours to Go program is specifically for 16-18 year old students who require 40 hours of volunteer experience to receive a secondary school diploma. Assignments may include photocopying, scanning and collating non-confidential material, assisting with the training resource library and   assisting with special events. Students are required to attend a training session and will receive an evaluation and certificate upon completion of the program.

When and where are the next Volunteer Orientation sessions?

Orientation sessions are held regularly, contact our office (see below) for date and time of the next training session. All sessions are conducted at our Head Office, 60 Bell Farm Road, Unit 7, Barrie.
