The Children's Aid Society has been in Simcoe County since 1894. And in 2001 the Children's Aid Foundation of
Simcoe County was created as a parallel organization to meet three changing factors:
- The financial needs of the children served by the Society increased significantly along with the number of children involved with the Children's Aid Society in Simcoe County.
- The Children's Aid Society received several bequests and the management of this money required expertise
that wasn't currently available on staff.
- The time and energy of the Children's Aid Society Board members was being consumed by the many and
very diverse responsibilities of keeping children safe. Fund raising was a growing responsibility which
required a specialized approach.
The Children's Aid Foundation of Simcoe County was officially established as a non-profit organization in 2001 and received its charitable status in July 2002.
The development of the Children's Aid Foundation of Simcoe County included the recruiting of a Board of Trustees, the development of bylaws and policies and the hiring of professional fund development staff.
In the first four years the Board of Trustees raised more than $900,000 to assist with education, enrichment and prevention programs and services provided by the Children's Aid Society of Simcoe County.
As a registered charity, we raise funds to give children the skills and supports they need to reach their full potential in life and provide healthy development
Programs funded by the Children's Aid Foundation of Simcoe County directly assist more than 3,000 children in Simcoe County annually - children who have suffered abuse and neglect and who receive service from the Children's Aid Society. Many of these children have also lived with family violence, substance abuse and poverty.
The role of the Children's Aid Foundation of Simcoe County is to help abused and neglected children lead happier and safer lives by raising funds for essential programs and services that are not funded by the government.
