Training & Support

Each foster home is supported by the Children's Aid Society financially, professionally, and through training and recreational opportunities.

Financial Assistance

Foster families receive a daily non-taxable reimbursement for children and youth residing in their home to cover the
cost of food, shelter and other living expenses.  As well there are clothing and recreational allowances which vary according to the age of the child.  Health and dental coverage is provided by the Children's Aid Society.

Professional Support

Each foster family is supported by a resource worker and has access to the agency 24 hours a day.  As well there is a Foster Parent Association that meets regularly and provides support and a network of families with mutual interests.

Training

The agency recognizes the importance and benefits of ongoing training; it offers regular workshops and courses to enhance the knowledge and expand child-related skills for foster families.

Recreational

Throughout the year a number of activities are organized by the Children's Aid Society including a summer picnic, awards events, a toy shop in December and recognition during Foster Family week.
