Adoption Disclosure

The Simcoe County Children's Aid Society provides adoption disclosure information in response to requests from
adult adoptees, birth parents, birth grandparents, birth siblings, and adoptive parents who wish information.

Part of our service is to provide non-identifying information regarding a person's birth family.

The demand for service is immense.  The length of time that an individual waits for information depends on how many inquiries are received.   Requests are processed according to the date in which the completed application form is received. The current waiting period is approximately one year.

Crown Ward Disclosure

Former Crown Wards who want information about their origin and about the time that they spent in care may also request disclosure.

Although there is no provincial legislation for former wards at this time, the Society can provide information in the same manner as shared with an adult adoptee.

For more information on Adoption Disclosure contact the Adoption Department by e-mail or by phone 1-800-461-4236.
