Purpose: To provide complementary services on a short-term fee-for-service basis (typically 3 months) to address client needs and support child safety, child well-being and permanency planning.
Reporting Relationship: One to one workers can be engaged in any number of separate service contracts. The one to one worker reports to the case manager responsible for each individual contract.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the service contract has been completed and signed before proceeding with service.
- In consultation with the case manager and the client develop and implement activities that are designed to achieve the outcomes identified in the service contract.
- Provide written documentation (case notes) to the case manager within 24 hours of service.
- Report forthwith any disclosures made by the client concerning harm or potential harm as per the Child and Family Services Act (see Hand Book)
- Submit invoices in a timely manner to the One to One Department
- Direct payment inquires to the Program Coordinator
- Inform the case manager and/or 1-1 Department of absence due to illness
- Participate in mandatory Agency training and development as required
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- A CYW Diploma or equivalent
- Sound understanding and knowledge of theories and practices in the field of child and youth work.
- A basic understanding of child development, mental health and the behavioural sciences.
- Good communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to people. The ability to exercise mature and professional judgment in conflictual and stressful situations.
- The ability to work independently and cooperatively
- Creativity and the ability to problem solve
- Good organizational skills
- The ability to provide legible and concise case notes
Major Contacts:
Regular contacts with the case manager for specific service contracts through sharing of case notes and communicating by phone or face to face as required.
Contacts as required with the One to One Program Coordinator for annual review of the Service Agreement and evaluation. The One to one worker will contact the Coordinator regarding any program or policy issues.
Assignment Conditions:
Assignment conditions will vary based on the particular service contract.
Assignments may be conducted in the client's place of residence, or the community.
Work may entail driving .
Compensation:
$15 per hour.
