Our drivers provide an invaluable service by assisting staff and foster families with the transportation needs of children
to various appointments and visits. Volunteer drivers transport children and their families to specified locations around Simcoe County at the request of the Agency.
You will need to provide supervision and appropriate behaviour management of the children in your care. Any unusual circumstances or behaviours should be reported immediately to the caseworker.
Punctuality and reliability are a necessity for this position.
Qualifications:
- A clean criminal record check, including a check to work with vulnerable populations
- A clean driver's abstract
- A medical information form signed by your physician
- Three references
- A valid Ontario driver's license
- Liability insurance coverage of at least one million dollars
- A reliable vehicle with functional child restraint mechanism
- A safe driving record
- Good communication skills
- Friendly, reliable and non-judgmental attitude
- Some heavy lifting may be required
- Attend a mandatory orientation session, driver's training and car seat safety training.
Schedule
Each volunteer driver sets his or her own schedule depending on availability.
Compensation
Compensation is provided for mileage and you will gain experience working in the child welfare system while you share your skills with a child or family that truly benefits from your commitment.
