The Job:
This is a two year contract. Reporting to the Family/Community Care Team Manager, the incumbent is responsible for: assisting in the development of policy and procedures related to kin and customary care arrangements; recruiting First Nations, Métis and Inuit care givers for out of home care and conducting home assessments, managing and supporting a caseload of kin and customary care homes for both in-care and out-of-care children; ensuring appropriate documentation is completed in accordance with Ministry licensing standards; recording responsibilities in accordance with the legislation and agency procedures, and other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications:
Reporting to the Family/Community Care Team Manager the incumbent is responsible for: assisting in the development of policy and procedures related to kin and customary care arrangements; carrying a caseload of kin and customary care homes for both in-care and out-of-care children, and ensuring that the appropriate file activity and file documentation are completed in accordance with agency policies and procedures and Ministry licensing standards; reviewing both in and out-of-care referrals to the Kinship Program; recommending appropriate matches to the service team with case planning proposals regarding the type and level of support required to support the placement; dealing with requests from other agencies for placement of their children with kin residing in Simcoe County; preparing reports and statistics; and other duties as contained in the position job description.
Qualifications:
The position requires an organized, energetic individual with good communication and assessment skills (particularly pertaining to the completion of home studies), a sound knowledge of placement resource processes as well as a demonstrated knowledge of child welfare systems and processes. The specific focus of the work would be best served by someone with knowledge and awareness of First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture and history along with an understanding of the social and political issues facing First Nations, Métis and Inuit people today. As well bilingualism would be an asset. Such qualifications would be consistent with someone possessing a Social Work degree or a degree in the Social Sciences from an accredited university, in combination with several years' child welfare experience.
Compensation:
The salary will be paid at Grade F ($49,294 to $68,705)
