The Job
We are seeking a full time permanent Family Resource Worker for the Collingwood Team.
Reporting to the Branch Service Director, the incumbent's responsibilities include:
- providing supportive and educational services to families in their own homes through time intensive and goal and task oriented intervention
- modelling appropriate child management techniques and effective parenting skills
- providing information and hands on assistance with basic infant care and childhood development as required
- assisting the family in learning effective communication skills and problem solving techniques
- assisting the family in making use of community resources independently
- providing encouragement and emotional support to assigned families in crisis
- offering guidance and information regarding healthy nutritional practices
- fulfilling case recording responsibilities
- other duties as outlined in the job description.
Qualifications:
The incumbent requires:
- a knowledge of infant and child care development
- a sound understanding of child management techniques and effective parenting skills
- a basic knowledge of nutrition, meal planning, shopping, cooking, budgeting and other normal household tasks
- the ability to relate to clients in crisis and to work as a team member.
Knowledge and awareness of Aboriginal culture and history along with an understanding of the social and political issues facing Aboriginal people today would be an asset. As well bilingualism (English/French) will be a strong asset.
Compensation:
The salary will be paid at Level D ($40,140 to $53,755)
