How can I adopt in Ontario?

There are two ways to adopt in Ontario.  One way is to adopt privately. The other way is to adopt through your Children’s Aid Society.

What is the CAS Adoption Process?

The first thing to do if you are interested in adopting or if you have questions about adopting is to call the adoption department at 705-726-6587 ext. 273 Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and have a preliminary discussion with the an adoption intake worker.

After you have made your initial inquiry, your name will be placed on our training wait list.  A package of information will be sent to you, which includes information on adoption and a reading list. We encourage you to read about adoption while you are on the waiting list.
