PARENTING WITH LOVE AND LOGIC (6 evenings - 12 hours) _____________________________________

When? Tuesday, May 1, 8, 15, 29, June 5, 19, 2001 - 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Where? Board Rooms B & C at Bell Farm
Who? Foster Parents, Adoptive Parents, FRW's, 1 to 1 Workers, and staff who work with parents and children in care or in their homes
Facilitators: Lynn Haley and Joy Leslie Treatment Foster Parents and approved trainers for the Love and Logic program. Lynn and Joy attended a week long train the trainers in order to offer this program.
Why? This program was developed by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline, M.D. of the Love and Logic Institute Inc. in Golden, Colorado.
Lynn and Joy began to look at the course more than eight months ago and finally were able to attend instructor training in Colorado at their own expense.
They see it as a wonderful addition to the current training available in our agency and is certainly applicable to everyone who lives and works with children.
The course teaches practical techniques that you can use immediately to improve relationships and effectiveness with your child.
Some topics are:
- Setting Limits with kids - problem ownership
- Thinking Words vs. Fighting Words - Side stepping power struggles
- The Art and Science of Control
- Empathy followed by well designed consequences and more.
The course is divided into 6 sessions to allow you to practice in between and then come back and discuss your experiences.
