Why? When can an adolescent who has sexually offended be considered "safe"? What needs to be in place in a home to protect other children and to assist the adolescent in continuing on the path of healthy, respectful interactions rather than abusive ones?
As an agency we often need to find placements for adolescents who have been sexual with other children. Foster families need to understand the risks are involved and also ways to manage these risks.
This session is very important for staff and Foster parents who work with these adolescents. They are young people and we want to give them another chance which is possible with the right safeguards in place.
This session might be a good companion to the module on Safeguarding Children and Families from Abuse.
